Announcements:

GLOUCESTER COUNTY COLLEGE will visit Schalick for an informational session at 9:30 am on May 13th in the Media Center. Please sign up to visit with GCC in the Guidance Office. Following that date we will have more information about testing and signing up for classes at GCC.

ATTENTION ALL SENIORS PLANNING TO GO TO COUNTY COLLEGE

There are several important dates coming up for students who are or who may be interested in attending one of the local community colleges (Salem County, Cumberland County and Gloucester County). Please read below for dates of events that pertain to each school.

Salem County College – Salem County has already been here for an informational visit, and has visited to administer the Basic Skills Test, the Accuplacer. We will be taking a trip to their campus on May 5th to have students sign up for classes. You will need a permission slip to attend this field trip, please pick one up in the Guidance Office and return it asap. The students who may attend this trip are only students who are serious about attending Salem County and who have already taken the Accuplacer Basic Skills Test. If you want to take the Accuplacer and sign up for classes on your own then you may call Sharon Stout in the admissions office to schedule your dates. Phone 856-351-2703 or email sstout@salemcc.edu, or you may pick up an SCC testing schedule in the Guidance Office. SCC also has some campus based scholarships available, please pick up a scholarship booklet in the Guidance Office if you are interested in applying.

Cumberland County College – Cumberland County has been here for an informational visit. They will be administering the Accuplacer here at Schalick on May 1st. All 33 spots are filled based on the list of students who attended the CCC presentation on April 10th, but you may want to double check to be sure you are on the list. If you are not on the list then you may pick up a CCC testing schedule in the Guidance Office or you may call Melissa Wright at (856)691-8600 and plan to take the test on your own. Following the test we will have more information about signing up for classes at CCC and the process to do this.

Gloucester County College - will visit Schalick for an informational session at 9:30 am on May 13th in the Media Center. Please sign up to visit with GCC in the Guidance Office. Following that date we will have more information about testing and signing up for classes at GCC.

These dates have been announced on Schalick Sunrise and are on the Guidance Website. This is your last and final notice of these dates. Please be responsible and sign up or complete a permission slip where necessary. Also, write these dates in your calendar!!! Take charge of your future!!! These dates cannot be made up or repeated, once you miss it, that’s it. Be responsible.

THE RICHARD STOCKTON COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY invites students to be a part of Stockton CSI. Four residential summer camps for high school students who want a hands-on experience with a criminal investigation and trial. The first camp begins June 22-26, July 6-10, July 20-24, August 3-7 if you are interested please contact them via web

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

Parvin State Park Appreciation Committee, Inc. is seeking young volunteers to help promote the use of the park by the public and educate visitors on its history and to support the park through funding. There are many talented young volunteers in the organization which could help mentor young adults in various technical and management skills.

National Youth Science Camp www.nysc.org

Two graduating seniors from New Jersey will be selected to participate in this month-long residential science education program in West Virginia from June 29 - July 26, 2008. If you are going pursue a career in science, math, engineering or medicine this is an opportunity for you. There is no cost to the students that are selected to represent New Jersey. Please check the website for more information and check with your guidance counselor for more information.
