Seniors:

The Pittsgrove Township Republican Organization will not be sponsoring a scholarship this year 2008.

PITTSGROVE TOWNSHIP INDEPENDENT BUSINESS ASSOCIATION offering a $500 scholarship for a graduating student pursuing a business/technical career. Deadline May 15, 2008.

Mannington "Stand on a Better World" Scholarship

Five $1000 scholarships will be awarded to Salem County high school seniors. Must be enrolled in a college/university or trade school for fall of 2008 and demonstrate dedication to community service.

  1. List community service for the past two years (specific projects)
  2. What is the most rewarding thing about community service?
  3. Other than community service, name three things that are important to you and why
  4. Letter of recommendation from one supervisor at the community service where you worked.

Applications are available in your guidance office and must be returned by:

South Jersey Golf Association Scholarship

A member in good standing of his/her golf team and who plans to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited college or university in the US. You need not to be a member of a country club or golf club, however if you are a member of a golf club you must be sponsored by an SJGA member. Several scholarships from $500-$750+ are being offered. The following material must be included with your application:

  1. Acceptance/wait list letter from your college/university
  2. Official high school transcript
  3. Three letters of recommendation: golf coach, guidance counselor, community service leader or SJGA member or teacher, scout leader, etc.
  4. Completed resume (see application for details)
  5. Essay question: Bobby Jones has stated, "Golf is a game that is played on a five-inch course - distance between your ears." Using this quotation as a basis of your essay, indicate in what ways he is right. Give three different situations where showing mental toughness or losing it in the game of golf could help or hinder you. These situations can be personal or situations that you have witnessed while watching others play. One, however, has to be personal. Indicate what each situation was, what caused it to occur, what happened as a result and how it might have turned out differently.

Elmer PTA Award

Graduating senior currently an Elmer resident, attended Elmer School for minimum of 3 years and graduated from Elmer Elementary School, GPA of 3.0 or better, participated in extra curricular and/or community activities during high school years. Demonstrate community spirit and civic mindedness. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Billy Shortencarrier Memorial Scholarship

A graduating senior planning on continuing their education (college/university/trade school). Application and a short essay is required the question is "What is important to you, what you hold dear to your heart, how you may have reached out to another student (shown kindness and/or concern), and what makes you smile?

Laura Weinberg Memorial Scholarship

Planning on majoring in education? A short essay is required on "Why have you chosen to pursue a career in the field of education?" Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Angela Wentzell Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is to reward a college or trade school-bound senior who has demonstrated outstanding humanitarianism during their high school years and may not qualify for more traditional academic /athletic scholarships. To be considered for this scholarship you must provide examples of genuine kindness and consideration for fellow students, faculty and community; must have excellent attendance and work ethics.Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Mr. & Mrs. Theodore Krause Scholarship

A graduating senior planning to continue their education and needs financial assistance. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Pittsgrove Township Middle School PTSO Scholarship

A graduating senior who attended PTMS for at least two years. Trade school bound senior with a minimum GPA 2.0 , have received no suspensions throughout four years of high school, demonstrated initiative and commitment to pursue a vocational or trade school career. Two letters of recommendation from teacher/counselor/supervisor who has worked with the student in the trade that he/she wishes to pursue. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Pittsgrove Township Elementary PTO Scholarship

Graduating senior who attended both Norma & Olivet Elementary Schools, maintained A-B average in all classes, has not received any other scholarships, and strives to achieve the same objectives as the PTO:

  1. TO PROMOTE THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN HOME, SCHOOL, COMMUNITY, AND PLACE OF WORSHIP.
  2. TO RAISE THE STANDARDS OF HOME LIFE.
  3. TO SECURE ADEQUATE LAWS FOR THE CARE AND PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH.
  4. TO BRING INTO CLOSER RELATION THE HOME AND THE SCHOOL, THAT PARENTS AND TEACHERS MAY COOPERATE INTELLIGENTLY IN THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH.
  5. TO DEVELOP BETWEEN EDUCATORS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC SUCH UNITED EFFORTS AS WILL SECURE FOR ALL CHILDREN AND YOUTH THE HIGHEST ADVANTAGES IN PHYSICAL, MENTAL, SOCIAL, AND SPIRITUAL EDUCATION.

Pittsgrove Democrat Association Scholarship Award

The scholarship is offered to a graduating high school senior who has an understanding of the importance of the basic democratic principles of individual liberty, personal responsibility, opportunity for all, and obligation of civic duty and planning on continuing their education. An essay of 300 words on one of the two topics below:

  1. Please describe how these democratic principles have impacted your life and helped you become the individual you are today or
  2. Please describe how you plan to use these democratic principles in your future endeavors.

Elmer Borough Board of Education Student Recognition Scholarship

Graduating senior currently an Elmer resident, attended Elmer School for minimum of 3 years and graduated from Elmer Elementary School, participated in extra curricular and/or community activities during high school years, and has demonstrated good citizenship qualities. Acceptance to a college/university or trade school required. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Jon Bellem Memorial Scholarship

A handwritten essay is required on "How this scholarship will help you pursue your career?" Verification of acceptance to a college/university or trade school is needed. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Jack Collins Track Booster Club Scholarship

An essay of 200 words or more on: "How track has been a positive influence in your life?" An official high school transcript is required along with your application. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Sadie H. Miller Scholarship

Application, transcript, current grades along with a copy of your FAFSA, FAF or Student Aid Report is required. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Pittsgrove Wrestling Association

Must have been member of the Schalick High School Wrestling team for three or more years and have a minimum Unweighted GPA of 2.8 and planning on continuing their education. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Jennifer Schmidt Memorial Band Scholarship

A graduating senior who has been a member of the Schalick High School Band or colorguard for at least 3 years, have a 3.0 GPA or above at the end of the 3MP of their senior year, and planning to continue their education. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Pittsgrove Arts Foundation Annual Scholarship

Planning on furthering your education in the performing, visual or graphic arts? Application and a photocopy of a work of art, an audio or visual tape of one piece of work is required. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Luther M. Roork Memorial Masonic Award

Active participation in school activities, contribution to school, community, and scholastic achievement. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned by:

Off Broad Street Players Scholarship in the Performing Arts


Seniors who are interested in the Performing Arts as a career in acting, scenery design, music, etc. this $1000 scholarship could be yours. Applications are in the guidance office.

The Billy Consalo Memorial Agricultural Scholarship

Furthering your education in agriculture or an agriculturally related field at a college, university, trade, or technical school? This scholarship could be yours. Look over the following criteria and see if you would be applicable, you must be a student that can demonstrate the following characteristics: Leadership, Outstanding Sportsman, Integrity, Desire and Determination, Humanitarian. Academic standing of "C" or better. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Salem County 2000 Community Service Award

Applicant must show evidence of volunteerism through community service, service learning, and or community involvement and provide the following material:

  1. Application
  2. Letter of interest
  3. Resume'
  4. Letter(s) of recommendation (no more than three)
  5. Essay 250 words describing a community service/service learning project that responded to a real life issue. Student should describe how his/her contributions improved the lives of community members. Your goals and objectives should also be included.
  6. Official high school transcript

Friends of Education Scholarship

Graduating senior accepted to college/university or any other educational institution, two letters of recommendations, official high school transcript, involvement in school, church and community activities, must submit a 100 word essay on the following topic- If the Presidential election was held today: "Who would you vote for and why?"
