»School Report Card (DOE)
The German Club consists of German students who wish to participate in activities which support the classroom learning of language and culture. Students learn and perform German folk dances at a number of venues. They teach elementary and middle school students dances and language. Students attend festivals at local high schools, modeled after German celebrations. These include Fachingsfest and Sankt-Nikolaus-Abend. Students may attend a “film evening”, where they watch an acclaimed German film with subtitles. January brings the Alumni Dinner, where current Club members cook and serve dinner to Schalick German Alumni. In the spring, they compete in language competitions against other New Jersey German students. The Schalick Chapter of the National German Honor Society works in conjunction with the German Club. Students must meet strict national requirements of scholarship, service, and integrity to be inducted.
