TIGS

Teen Institute of the Garden State, or TIGS, is a full-year wellness and leadership-training program for New Jersey teens. Through TIGS, teens empower themselves and others to become high on life itself, without the need to resort to the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. TIGS takes the next step beyond saying “no” and provides teens with positive alternatives. Students in grades 9-11 are invited to apply for the limited spaces available.

At TIGS, teens make friends, learn to communicate more effectively with family and peers, enhance personal coping skills, and have fun while experiencing a drug-free lifestyle. They also learn leadership and prevention program planning skills while learning the techniques of how to share this excitement for life with others.

TIGS participants return to their schools after an action-packed summer camp session with an action plan plus built-in follow-up support system to help them turn away from negative peer pressure. Together, TIGS teens create a new norm – a new positive peer pressure – for celebrating life without drugs and alcohol.
